Repair Patches

Think about adding adhesive patches to your kit if you have small holes in your gear. These patches are made of high-performance glue pre-applied on a rugged polyurethane back that lets a tear that is triggered by pressure to recover. Available in clear and colored options They offer durability against abrasions, moisture, sunlight, saltwater and temperature extremes.

If your kit doesn't include any of the above items, think about including a bag of waterproof Aquaseal wader repair sealant. This water-tight glue will bond to fabrics, plastics, metals and more for an unbreakable fix. It's ideal for fixing drysuits and can be applied on the job. Give the sealant at least 12 hours for it to cure before using your repaired equipment.

Also included is a 1/4-ounce Gore-Tex Repair Adhesive, Sealant and Brush for sealing. To use, place patch over a smooth, clean surface of the damaged area with at least 1/2 inch overlap. Remove the release paper and rub adhesive side down with moderate finger pressure.

Clean the area thoroughly Then use the tube-scuffer or sandpaper to roughen the surface, which makes it easier for glue to stick. Then spread a thin layer of glue over the patch to cover an area that is at least as large as the patch. Wait for the glue to get tacky and then press the patch down with a firm pressure and secure it.
